I'm on my last day here in Costa Rica waiting for my flights which I hope are cancelled so I can stay here longer!!! This project is amazing, I have spent 3 weeks here (I recommend you stay here as long as you can) and loved every minute of it, even with the never ending ant bites which seemed to effect me more than anyone else!. The staff and all other volunteers were amazing, really friendly and I've made some great friendships here. The trails we did were fun and challenging with so much variety on what you can do and i loved all of them, but the bird surveys were always my favourites. There is so much wildlife to see in Costa Rica I couldn't get over it! Without fail around 3 or 4 every afternoon troops of monkeys would come through camp, there is literally never a dull moment.
I chose this particular project because I wanted some experience in Conservation. The aims of the project and what they want to achieve are amazing with lots of presentations given to us on the various surveys they do, why they do them, their aims and how they relate to the overal aims of the project. I'm so pleased I took part in this project, I've learnt so much and it's really helped me to figure out the areas in conservation I'd like to go into and what to do for my masters. I will be back! Hopefully when I finish my degree to do the internship they offer or as a apprentice or staff member! Highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in wildlife in general and also conservation. The country is beautiful, it's wildlife, the food, the people and just everything about this place! You will love every minute of it!
