Adventure in Australia and experience everything the West Coast has to offer, whilst at the same time having the opportunity to earn some money. This region is a vast and dramatic wilderness punctuated by cities and towns full of life and culture, including Perth and Albany. Enjoy waking to beaming sunshine, spending your days in beautiful rolling countryside, and filling your spare time by booking trips to go snorkelling over sparkling reefs, spotting dolphins in the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean or learning to dive whilst socialising with your new friends. Explore the surrounding area and see kangaroos in their natural environment, as well as trying adventure sports such as surfing, windsurfing and bungee jumping. WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Volunteers are responsible for finding their own work placements with support from Frontier's experienced staff in London. We will also advise you on visas, tax and bank accounts. Paid work may involve anything from hand picking fresh strawberries from the vast fields of Western Australia to pruning vineyards in world renowned wine regions. It is up to you how hard you work but the more you do, the more money you are likely to get paid.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?

You will follow our detailed instructions and make the safe and simple journey from Perth airport to your accommodation.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

You will be staying in a working hostel where you will have plenty of opportunity to meet other working travellers and arrange your work placement.

WHAT WILL I BE EATING?

The project is self catered, which means that you will shop and cook for yourself. Joining your fellow workers in rustling up an evening meal is a great way of bonding with them, so make sure you dig out a few tried and tested recipes before you set off! There are plenty of places to buy fresh food including lots of fruit and vegetables from nearby, giving you the chance to venture out into the local area and experience day-to-day life in this far flung part of the world.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

You may like to spend your free time relaxing and socialising with your fellow workers. Take time out to get to know some of this amazing country's wildlife. The diving and snorkelling off the nearby beaches is absolutely spectacular and you may even see pods of dolphins, seals or perhaps whales if you spend time on the coast. However, if you fancy something more adventurous then there are plenty of adventure activities and water-based sports to get involved in at reasonable prices. Other water sports available include water skiing, windsurfing, surfing, bodyboarding and more. Try a bungee jump for a full blown adrenaline rush, or mountain biking for a great way to take in the staggering landscapes. Venture into nearby towns with your new friends for a taste of the raucous Australian nightlife ñ the bars and clubs are sure to be jam packed!

Flights

Flights are not included in our project costs. However, Frontier have partnered with an experienced and professional team of travel experts to help our volunteers find the best flight deals for their trips with Frontier. This travel specialist operates in the tailor-made, long haul multi-stop travel market, arranging complex airfares and transfers for independent travellers. They provide expertise, security and a vast product range along with a Travel Butler service which is a single point of contact and support whilst you are overseas.

We recommend that you obtain a quote using the following contact details rather than book online, as our partner will offer you the most competitive fares. To receive your quote or to seek any advice for your flights, please contact Frontier’s dedicated team of travel experts on 0800 082 9994 (or +44 800 082 9994 outside the UK) or email frontier@flightcentre.co.uk .

Visas

For fast, efficient and up-to-date visa advice please contact our recommended visa consultancy partner:

Depending on your destination country and your country of origin, you might require a visa. Please see the appropriate country consular website for details or contact our affiliate visa consultancy service. Please note that your visa will usually start on the date that you enter the destination country regardless of when it was issued. Please check with the relevant embassy or high commission. If you are purchasing your visa or paying entry/exit fees in-country you will probably need to pay in US Dollars. If you have any questions please consult the relevant embassy or high commission. Please check the visa information regularly, as changes often happen without warning.

Insurance

You'll need to buy appropriate travel insurance covering your participation on the project. You won't be able to go without the right travel insurance so double check to avoid disappointment. Please make sure that you're covered for the whole duration of your trip – from the day you leave the UK to the day you return. It's also best to get your travel insurance at the same time as paying the deposit for your project. Depending on your policy, this will cover you for any unexpected cancellations.

Your insurance should include the following:

  • Medical cover, including medical emergencies and medical evacuations (up to USD$3,000,000 / GBP£2,000,000);
  • Personal liability (up to USD$1,500,000 / GBP£1,000,000);
  • Cancellation and curtailment of your trip (up to the value of your project contribution).

If you are going to be scuba diving you should get coverage for scuba diving up to 30m, including hyperbaric therapy treatment (unlimited). You should consider obtaining insurance to cover you for any additional activities which you plan to do during, before, or after your Frontier project. We recommend that you obtain cover for your baggage and personal effects.
