Sample Itinerary
Your adventure will begin as soon as you arrive at the hostel in Hong Kong, here you will have the opportunity to acclimatise and meet your Adventure Leader for an important briefing and orientation.

Day 1: Hong Kong
After meeting your fellow travellers, you will discover one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the world on your first day. You will enjoy the views from the top of Victoria Peak and absorb how the cultures of East and West have fused together before boarding the 3-hour bullet train to Guilin.

Day 2-5: Yangshuo
During the next 3 days you can try your hand at cooking up some traditional Chinese foods at a local cuisine institute, followed by a unique experience as you cruise down the Yulong River on Chinese style gondolas – Bamboo Rafts! After this unmissable activity you will have a never ending list of activities – Enjoy deep water soloing or Rock-climbing, Kayak on the Li river, bike ride to Moon Hill and relax in the mud baths and hot springs, or you can even experience what life is like on a farm by visiting your Adventure Leader’s home village!

Day 6-8: Chengdu
To recover from the action packed 3 days in Yangshuo, you will now be able to enjoy the slow-paced heart of Western China where you can relax with a massage from a blind masseuse. You will have the chance to learn some Mandarin with your Adventure Leader before gathering to go to see the Pandas at the world’s main Giant Panda breeding and Research Center. You will have the opportunity to leave to Leshan to see the world’s largest stone Buddha, sample the famous Sichuan Hot Pot if you dare, visit Wenshu Monestery, enjoy the traditional tea houses or even wander around the Tibetan districts before enjoying a night out in Chengdu.

Day 9-10: Xi’an
After meeting your next adventure leader you will spend the next 2 days in this ancient ‘frontier’ city with its medieval feel. Take a stroll through the Muslim Quarter to learn about the history of the Silk Road, the Great Mosque and some local legends before enjoying a dinner of local street foods. You can spend the day cycling the Ming Dynasty City walls, bartering for souvenirs at the local Silk Road market and visiting the Terracotta Warriors – an activity not to be missed!

Day 11-12: Shaolin
Spend an unforgettable time at the Shaolin temple. Learn Kungfu from a monk and get to know the locals as you hike to Dharma Cave, a spiritual spot for Buddhist Pilgrims. Immerse yourself in the culture of this tranquil, ancient place and build on your language skills with your 2nd Mandarin lesson.

Day 13-16: Beijing
Arrive in Beijing to meet your next Adventure leader and complete your 3rd Mandarin lesson before taking on the Mandarin Challenge! Camp out under the stars on a remote section of the Great Wall. After an unforgettable sunrise on the Wall, you will head back to the city for more history culture and food! Visit the Olympic Bird’s Nest stadium, learn about the vast history of the Forbidden City and visit the Temple of Heaven – the largest complex dedicated to heaven worship in the world! You can test your bargaining skills in the fake goods market, watch a stunning Chinese Acrobatics performance and taste Beijing’s signature dish - Peking Roast Duck. Why not push your taste buds to the limit at the WangFuJing night market where you can sample foods such as scorpions, bugs and more, before heading back to Hong Kong to finish your adventure trip.

After arriving in Hong Kong you will head to the hostel where you will meet your adventure leader and fellow travellers. You will travel up to Victoria Peak for a pre-departure briefing and enjoy the views of Hong Kong from above, before departing on the train to Guilin to begin your journey.

In each of the destinations during your travel, you will be staying in selected hostels, guest houses and one night of camping. All the hostels/guest houses will have the necessary and essential facilities that you would expect, Western-type toilets with showers and washing machines for your clothes. You will also have the option to upgrade your room if you wish.

Travelling in different locations will give you the opportunity to taste the variety of foods that China has to offer. These dishes will vary from region to region and from season to season – you will rarely find the same dish at two different times and places! You will be cooking traditional dishes at a local cuisine institute in Yangshuo, sampling the famous Sichuan Hot Pot in Chengdu and pushing your taste buds to the limit at the WangFuJing night market in Beijing.
