WHAT DOES THE PROJECT DO?
This project aims to combine tourism and sustainable volunteering in a unique experience. The idea is to promote ecotourism and responsible tourism, whilst also offering the opportunity to visit Lisbon and having a positive contribution to the environment and local community.
By volunteering on this project, you will meet other volunteers who share your passion for volunteering and are working actively towards a better future. The Lisbon Marine Conservation project will allow you to gain experience of working in a team whilst learning how to protect marine life.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
By joining this project you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of conservation efforts focused on the protection of the marine ecosystem. During the program volunteers will observe fish and marine life of all colours and have the chance to dive in the Atlantic Ocean.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?
You will be picked up at Lisbon International Airport by a member of our in-country staff. You will then be transported to your accommodation where you will be given an introduction to the program and the city.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?
During your stay you will be living alongside other volunteers in a sustainable hostel in Lisbon. The dormitories are single-gendered and have safe boxes for you to store your belongings safely. You will have the privacy and freedom to have a great time in the city in addition to your volunteer placement.

WHAT WILL I BE EATING?
You will be provided three traditional Portuguese meals per day. If you wish, you can also go and explore Lisbon's markets and artisanal shops to discover your favourite cafes and restaurants.  You will have the chance to try classic Portuguese dishes such as; ad carne de porco à Alentajana (pork marinated in wine with clams), gaspacho (cold soup made of tomatoes, onions, garlic and chillies), and loads of fresh fish:  such as the famous bacalhau or salted cod.
