WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Your 3 day action packed adventure tour will take you to the Bay of Islands, in the east of the North Island stopping off at Paihia to see all it has to offer. You will be accompanied by a passionate, local guide who knows the area back to front, and their second-to-none expert knowledge is guaranteed to ensure you see only the very best and most interesting bits of this part of New Zealand.

You will also have the opportunity to get involved in a number of extra activities each day of your tour. Every day you will have a selection of activities to choose from depending on your own interests, including the adrenalin-junkie’s favourite bungee jumping, swimming with dolphins or learning how to sail a tall ship. If you love the water then these extra activities will be right up your street. These activities will incur an additional fee which you will need to factor in to your own costs. Alternatively you may wish to just continue exploring the landscape on your own accord, which is also perfectly fine.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Auckland to Paihia- Take in picture perfect beaches, ancient beaches and more.

Day 2: Paihia- Enjoy the sun in Paihia and the Bay of Islands.

Day 3: Paihia to Auckland- Visit the Waitangi treaty grounds and explore the surrounding region.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?

Upon arrival into Auckland airport you will need to make your own way to the rendezvous point where you will be met by a friendly Frontier representative. You will be given more detailed instructions on where to meet the rest of your group nearer your time of departure.

We recommend that you arrive into Auckland the night before your project start date. Your Frontier Volunteer Coordinator can help you make any accommodation and transfer arrangements; however these would be at your own cost.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

Throughout the duration of your adventure you will be staying in a high quality hostel in Paihia. You will be sharing a dorm-style room with 4 to 6 of your fellow travellers. Some rooms will have ensuite bathrooms, whereas others will have shared facilities.

Sharing dorms is a really fantastic way of bonding with the other members of your group and re-living the day’s fun activities! All accommodation will have a fully equipped kitchen and lounge facilities, with computers and Wi-Fi to keep in touch with loved ones at home.

WHAT WILL I BE EATING?

You will receive a continental-style breakfast each morning of your tour to prepare you for the day’s adventure ahead. You will be responsible for sourcing your own lunch and dinner each day. You can either cook for yourself in the fully equipped kitchen facilities available at each hostel, or you can take the opportunity to sample local restaurants with your new found friends. Either way you are sure to sample new cuisines and learn some new recipes during your trip!
