monday: meet your group

Our Frontier representative in Sydney will explain everything you need to know and organise your bank card, tax file number and your mobile SIM. Then we’ll take a guided walking tour of Sydney including Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Opera House and the Botanical Gardens. Make sure you bring your camera - there are loads of photo opportunities along the way! Meet the whole group that evening for our welcome dinner, with dinner and a drink on us!

tuesday: info session & harbour cruise

Meet at the tour rendezvous point for a comprehensive work and travel information session. We'll explain everything you need to know about working and travelling around Australia - the team will be available to answer all your questions!

After the info session we’ll take a cruise of the stunning Sydney Harbour on our catamaran and check out the sights including Darling Harbour, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Fort Dennison, Luna Park and Watson’s Bay. Spend the rest of the day cruising, swimming and chilling along the beautiful Sydney Harbour!

wednesday: basecamp

Today we’ll depart the city for 3 days and 2 nights at our brilliant basecamp, located just north of Sydney. The area is famous for its stunning beaches, amazing sand dunes and abundance of Aussie wildlife including dolphins, whales, koalas, echidnas and possums. The Basecamp is just 5 minutes walk to the beach and home to Josie, a tame kangaroo who lives on the property. Check out the beautiful beach and have a swim before we enjoy pizzas for dinner!

thursday: sand-boarding

We’ll start the day thrill seeking by jumping in our 4WD to ride the highest dunes to try sand-boarding! Once the adrenaline rush subsides, we’ll take a guided bush walk to our favourite lookout - enjoy stunning scenery and breathtaking views and the chance to see koalas in the treetops and migrating whales (May through November).

Tonight we’ll enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner and drinks around the campfire.

friday: dolphin cruise

An amazing dolphin watching cruise awaits you today! Get up close to wild bottlenose dolphins, relax on deck or ride in the boom net while dolphins swim underneath you, while there’s also a chance to see turtles and whales. Afterwards we’ll grab some food before heading back to Sydney, where you can spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

saturday: party night

Get dressed up for a fun night on the town Aussie style! Meet up at one of our favourite party bars before jumping on our Sydney Pub Crawl. We’ll visit 4 bars in the city and receive a free drink at each one!

sunday: beach day

On your last day we’ll take a tour along Sydney’s beautiful cliff-top coastline, from Coogee to Bondi, checking out six stunning beaches along the way. It’s the perfect way to unwind after an awesome first week in Sydney!

Your second week will be spent on the farm. You will travel by coach to the Frontier farm in outback New South Wales for a week of agricultural training. Your training will be over 6 days where you will learn and practice the following farm skills:

Horse riding and handling

Cattle mustering, lassoing and stock work

Sheep shearing

Assistance with farm jobs upon completion.

This course is the perfect introduction into live and work on an Aussie farm. Most farm jobs include meals and accommodation and you can expect to earn $200-$500/w after tax and accommodation. Jobs are available in any of the following areas:

General farm hand

Mustering on horseback

Cooks and nannies on stock camps

Working with polo cross horses

Working at horse studs

Cotton harvesting

Tractor driving

This course can be very rewarding, as long as you are prepared to take on lots of hard work and long days in the heat, dust and the dirt!

We’ll pre-arrange your airport transfer to our accommodation hostel in the city. Before departure you will receive a shuttle bus voucher to present to the driver at the airport. You will then be driven to your hostel in comfort with no worries, ready to begin your ultimate tour of Sydney! You will then be transferred to the Frontier ranch in outback New South Wales for your agricultural training.

Please aim to arrive in Sydney on the Sunday, as your tour will start on the Monday of each week.

During the project you will be provided with comfortable, clean, shared accommodation. The volunteer facilities include a kitchen, internet, laundry, bar, toilets, showers, and lockers, whilst you will be sharing a room with other volunteers (mixed sex), the perfect way to make a load of new friends for your travels!

Australia is well known for its variety and quality of awesome food, so you’ll definitely never be left feeling hungry. Apart from your welcome evening meal on the Monday, food is not provided on the first week of the project, which means that you will shop and cook for yourself, apart from the two days you’ll be spending at our base camp, where we will provide you with three meals a day. You will however be provided with three meals a day on the second week of the project at the ranch. Joining your fellow travellers in rustling up an evening meal is a great way of bonding with them, so make sure you dig out a few tried and tested recipes before you set off! Please be aware that at the ranch it is not easy as a strict vegetarian or vegan, as diets on most farms consist of meat. While vegetarians can be catered for, you must be willing to prepare and handle meat when cooking.
