WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?
You'll fly into Bangkok on or before your placement start date and will be met by a local representative of Frontier-Thailand, after which you will be escorted to your accommodation for the first phase of your stay. You will be near Singburi, approximately 140 km north of Bangkok.
WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?
Your accommodation during your two week training period will be at our volunteer base in one of three eco-houses in Singburi. The rooms are twin shared and all the houses have Western style toilets, while one even has an Asian style toilet! You will have access to cool water showers, which you'll find refreshing in the heat of Thailand! There are communal areas for eating, relaxing and meeting your new friends and there is a local shop within walking distance of most of the houses should you feel the need for any additional treats!
Following your training period and once your placement has been secured, your accommodation will be arranged for you directly by the school you are placed in, which is offered free of charge in exchange for your hard work and commitment. Some participants may even have the opportunity to live with a local host family – the ideal environment for the host and the guest to practise each other's language!
WHAT WILL I BE EATING?
All food is included during your training period only, and you will find it to be typically Thai fare. Thai is one of the world's most exciting cuisines, and if you're willing to experiment, you'll be richly rewarded. Contrary to popular belief, not all Thai food is fiery hot and there are plenty of tasty dishes suited to the Western palate. This hybrid cuisine has been influenced by soups and noodle dishes from China, curries from India and satays from Indonesia. Most dishes incorporate four elements, sweet, sour, salty and hot flavours, and many of the dishes are rice or noodle based.
Once you have completed the training period you will be responsible for sourcing your own food and covering the cost of this.
