When you have free time you can relax and enjoy peaceful evenings spent chatting to locals or reading and reflecting on the charm of your tranquil surroundings. Alternatively, if relaxing isn’t your thing, the coastal region has plenty of activities to offer, such as snorkelling or diving in search of the elusive whale shark or learning about the region's culture by visiting temples or nearby villages, where you can immerse yourself in the local surroundings.

After the trip, you might choose to travel further in Kenya under your own steam or with some of your new friends. You could spend time relaxing on the silvery beaches at Mombasa or swimming in the glittering Indian Ocean that teems with colourful underwater life. Or if you have an adventurous streak, you might like to try hang-gliding or scuba-diving - ask your project staff to help you find a local provider and support the local economy.
