WHAT DOES THE PROJECT DO?

Chinese is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. China's rapid economic growth, its military power, and its sheer number of citizens mean that it is having an ever-increasing influence on the world stage. Whether you're interested in global business or politics, or you're simply interested in learning more about China's culture or history, it is imperative that you understand the language. At the very least, it will open your eyes to a remarkable region like never before.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Studying at a well-known university, you will undertake an intensive Mandarin study course, studying about 4 hours a day, learning not only the language but also the history and culture of your host country. Your module will help you develop your written, verbal and reading skills, and working alongside native Chinese teachers and student teachers will ensure that you pick up authentic pronunciation and comprehension skills. Aside from your language course, you can choose an elective such as Chinese calligraphy or Taiji, a martial art focused on both physical and mental harmony and balance. Project lengths vary from 4ñ8 weeks during the summer months to a whole semester of about 5 months (starts twice a year). If that's not enough, you can study for a BA in Chinese language and literature, a 4-year long course. You will be so well looked after by the local staff, people, and your new friends that the only problem you're likely to face is deciding where you want to explore next!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?

You will be collected from Yantai airport by a Frontier representative and escorted to the university, where your textbooks await you.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

You'll be welcomed to your accommodation on the university campus where you will have a clean, quiet room with private or shared bathroom, comfortable furniture, air-conditioning, a phone, internet access, and a TV - all you could possibly need for an enjoyable and productive stay.

WHAT WILL I BE EATING?

You'll be free to explore the local cuisine of Yantai, or if you prefer you can make use of the delicious Chinese meals available on the university campus, and at weekends you will be provided with the means to self-cater. You may wish to take the opportunity to explore the delicacies on offer in local restaurants or in the vibrant street markets. The best thing about this is that you will be totally free to decide for yourself!
