5 hours south of Lima, Peru’s capital you will find the beautiful desert oasis of Huacachina. This small village is completely surrounded by huge sand dunes. These dunes create the opportunity for some extreme sport; sandboarding is popular here, which is very similar to snowboarding only a lot warmer! The dunes vary in size and slope gradient and there is the potential to reach some serious speeds on the steeper dunes. There are also dune buggy rides on offer here, which can be equally as exhilarating as the vehicles race and bounce across the sand.
