Assistant Research Officer (Terrestrial) - Nosy Be

The role involves assisting the Principal Investigator with the development and implementation of the research programme, involving the daily supervision of volunteer Research Assistants, data collection and analysis, and report-writing.

This role involves assisting the Principal Investigator in implementing the programme of research which includes habitat surveys and primate, bird, butterfly, reptile and amphibian monitoring. In addition to taking part in data collection, Assistant Research Officers will be required to train and supervise volunteers ensuring that scientific rigour is maintained alongside a quality volunteer experience. Successful candidates will also be expected to support the Principal Investigator in analysing data, writing scientific reports and to assist where necessary with all logistics and administration of the project, getting involved in resources and equipment, transport, budgeting, management of local staff, health and safety and report writing for the London HQ. This position would suit an environmental/biological science graduate with some field experience looking to increase their knowledge of field surveying techniques and gain experience of the management of research projects in developing countries.
