Work With Animals Abroad

Are you an animal lover? Have you always wanted to travel? If so then why not work with animals abroad?! Many of the world’s species are slowly being pushed out of their habitats by humans, or threatened by illegal poaching, pollution and the effects of climate change. Here at Frontier we have many opportunities for working with animals abroad, giving you the chance to volunteer in some of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems and work alongside the world’s most endangered species – working to improve the conversation status of these animals and rescue those who have been mistreated.

What kind of work with animals abroad can I take part in?

If you want to volunteer directly with animals you should consider one of our animal care projects – on these placements you can work with animals abroad in locations from Thailand to Costa Rica, and help to feed and care for sick, injured or confiscated exotic animals who have been rescued. If you’re more interested in conservation, take a look at our wildlife projects such as our Manatee Conservation Programme in Belize, or our Lemur Conservation Project in Madagascar. Working with animals abroad on any of these projects will bring you an immense feeling of fulfilment whilst also giving you brand new experiences of other cultures and beautiful natural landscapes.

Frontier's opportunites for working with animals abroad

Working with animals abroad through Frontier also means that you can get something of value on your CV. Many students taking courses in animal care, conservation or similar topics can benefit from our opportunities and may even be able to combine elements of their own research into our projects, or receive course credits for their work completed. If you choose to work with animals abroad on our Costa Rica Big Cats, Primates and Turtle Conservation project for example, you will gain practical research and experience through assisting with the conservation of vital habitats and their resident species – studying the ecology and behaviour of several species including jaguars, sloths, turtles, and tapirs.
