Voluntary Service Overseas

Taking part in voluntary service overseas with Frontier opens the door to an exciting variety of projects. We offer placements in marine and terrestrial conservation, community development, teaching, journalism, medical internships and more. Whether you want to join an overseas voluntary service in a Thai sanctuary looking after rescued animals or go to Madagascar and teach English to schoolchildren, we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you.

Frontier's projects for overseas voluntary services

Frontier is a non-profit organisation that started out by establishing the first Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Tanzania in 1989. Since then we have expanded to over 60 countries and continue to work closely with local governments and organisations to ensure that the overseas voluntary services which we provide respond to genuine local needs.  For example, in Belize our marine conservation volunteers developed the first ever photographic database of the resident manatee population in collaboration with the Fisheries Department, so as to develop conservation initiatives for Caye Caulker Marine Reserve.  In Costa Rica, our volunteers are working alongside the local community service organisation ASCONA to develop a recycling programme for the community of Puerto Jimenez.  If you join our voluntary service overseas you can contribute to significant conservation and development initiatives such as these.

Why join an overseas voluntary service project with Frontier?

Frontier operates over 400 overseas volunteering service placements year round, and you can join our projects for as little as one week to several months. Undertaking voluntary service overseas can be one of the most rewarding experiences, and not only will you gain a sense of fulfilment and have something great to put on your CV, you’ll also get the chance to meet lots of other likeminded individuals and become a part of an international community of volunteers.
