Gap Year Programs

Gap year programs are becoming increasingly popular amongst those who are eager to combine their passion for travel and adventure through volunteering. Most travellers take a gap year before or during university, but a gap year program can be taken by people of any age, perhaps as a career break or meaningful holiday. Volunteering allows individuals to build on their skills and boosts their CV’s/ UCAS applications.

Why go on a gap year program?

At Frontier our volunteers can make the most of their travel experience by enrolling in one of our gap year programs based on environmental conservation, wildlife conservation, teaching and other community development projects. Frontier offers over 400 projects based in 62 different countries. Popular countries for Frontier gap year travellers include Belize, Tanzania, Tenerife, Fiji, Costa Rica and Madagascar. Volunteers are also encouraged to apply for international internships available in conservation and research as part of their gap year program. Additionally, if you are an adventure seeker Frontier also offers multi-country group adventure trails.

How to apply for Frontier's gap year programs

Frontier offers various gap year programs which provide volunteers with valuable skills and qualifications  such as TEFL, BTEC equivalent certificate and PADI. Frontier is the only similar organisation to support genuine conservation efforts and produces science reports that build upon a  better community and natural environment. We have over 600 published research papers, for which the data was collected by the volunteers who selected to go on a gap year program with us. Most placements include food, accommodation, airport pick up, support and training and in country emergency support which allows you to fully enjoy your experience as well as give your relatives assurance.
