Conservation Work

Conservation work aims to preserve and protect natural environments in order to prevent exploitation, destruction and neglect. It is more important than ever as human overpopulation and overconsumption have resulted in global species’ population decline. Working in conservation with Frontier is a way for volunteers to take a stand to protect the world’s ecosystems. Frontier offers various different conservation work programmes that allow you to take part in preserving a part of the natural world you are most passionate about.

Frontier's opportunities in conservation work

Conservation work projects with Frontier are organised around a real conservation need and we work in some of the most biodiverse and remote locations in the world.  We have over 50 environmental conservation programs in locations all over the world working alongside the local community to develop long-term sustainable solutions for current environmental hazards. Mangrove restoration is a critical area of conservation work given the threat of climate change because they sequester carbon and defend against shoreline erosion. Frontier volunteers therefore work in conservation on mangrove nurseries, as well as habitat monitoring and conservation awareness campaigns. If your passion is marine conservation, Frontier offers over 60 marine conservation volunteering placements. In these projects, fragile marine ecosystems are studied, researched, monitored and protected by staff scientists supported by international volunteers.

Why work in conservation with Frontier?

Frontier’s conservation work is always conducted in close collaboration with local communities and governments to ensure our actions empower local communities to be responsible managers of their own natural resources. For volunteers interested in terrestrial conservation, there are over 80 forest and wildlife projects offered by Frontier. Volunteers monitor the impact of human development on terrestrial habitats and work to protect species at risk of extinction. Whether your passion is environmental, wildlife, marine or mangrove conservation work, Frontier has a project that will enable you to pursue your goals. If working in conservation sounds exciting to you, Frontier staff members are more than willing to help you choose which project is right for you!
