Conservation Holidays

Human activities are leading to alarming rates in loss of terrestrial wildlife. Animal populations are declining due to deforestation, wildlife poaching, pollution and other environmental problems. Therefore, more and more governmental and non-governmental organisations are participating in global conservation efforts to safeguard the planet and its biodiversity. Conservation holidays are a wonderful way to combine wildlife protection with fun and educational activities in various locations all over the world. Embarking on a conservation volunteering holiday will allow you to contribute to the protection of endangered species as well as prevention efforts to protect threatened areas on the planet.

Why go on a conservation holiday with Frontier?

By going on a conservation holiday, our volunteers support and contribute to Frontier’s research projects in countries such as Madagascar, Tenerife, Costa Rica, Belize, Fiji and Tanzania. The data that is collected aims to protect ecosystems by providing information and awareness to governmental bodies and various educational institutions. Scientific research is an inseparable part of Frontier’s work abroad in its mission to safeguard endangered species and territories.  Activities in each of our conservation holidays vary according to the interests and the preferences of each volunteer. Depending on the type of conservation, participants may conduct surveys on animal population control, organise beach patrols to assess turtle nesting habits and raise environmental awareness among local people.

How can I apply for a conservation holiday with Frontier?

Applying for any of Frontier’s conservation holidays is easy and involves a short application form, followed by an interview with one of our travel consultants. Volunteers choose the duration as well as the destination of their conservation holiday. Frontier also offers various qualifications such as PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water dive training. Some of our conservation projects can also be combined with teaching opportunities in order to gain a TEFL certificate. Frontier volunteers are also offered pre-departure support, travel and medical advice and a briefing weekend before the start of the project.
